A MAN has died and two others were seriously injured in a motorway crash last night.

The 22-year-old from Batley died at Worcester Royal Hospital after the van he was in was in a collision with four other vehicles.

The van driver, a 27-year-old man from Mirfield, was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with serious injuries.

Two lorries, two vans and a car were involved in the crash, which happened between junctions eight and nine on the northbound carriageway of the M5 at around 9.10pm last night.

A 46-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent, who was driving one of the lorries, was also taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

He is being treated for serious, potentially life-changing, injuries.

The motorway was closed until around 6.30am so the scene could be investigated.

Any witnesses should call Gloucestershire Constabulary on 101, quoting incident number 444 of May 1.
