Birkenshaw village lights now on
Birkenshaw’s community spirit shone through a cold afternoon and an ill-timed hail storm as hundreds turned out for the village’s Christmas Fair and lights switch-on.
Stalls were set up in the Scout HQ and Community Hall and there was entertainment from the Victoria Dance Studio, Drighlington Junior Band and Birkenshaw Primary School’s choir.
Santa himself even made an appearance to flick the switch with seven-year-old Jorga Ellis.
It was organised by the Village Association, St. Paul’s Church and the 1st Spen Valley Birkenshaw Scout Group.
