Musical kids have been getting ready to rock by recording their own CD.

The pupils of Birkenshaw Primary School have had so much fun learning and singing new songs, they have now produced the CD which is for sale.

Music co-ordinator Helen Jackson said: “It’s called Birkenshaw Rock and has 16 tracks – a mixture of old, new, fast and slow songs.

“A company called Recording Stars recorded us and there were 360 children involved. Our singing club, Birky Beats, recorded three tracks and the rest were by key stage one and two children, reception or the whole school.”

On Wednesday the pupils put on a concert for parents to come and watch their children play individual pieces of music on their instruments, as well as a performance from Birky Beats and the year five strings group.

The CDs are on sale for £7.
