A NEW course delving into the history between England and Scotland is being offered at Oakwell Hall.
“Debateable Land” will look at how the ancient wars between the two countries shaped the landscape and its people.
Tutor Julia Hickey said the participants would be able to “meet colourful characters like Kinmont Willie and the Bold Buccleugh”.
The 10-week course, run by the Workers’ Educational Association, will explore “the exciting tales of prison breaks, deadly feuds, blackmail, a Bishop’s curse, the Northern Earl’s Rebellion and Mary Queen of Scots”.
The course is on Thursday mornings from 10am beginning January 10. It costs £63 but is free to those on income-related benefits.
