Bonfire Night: Take your umbrellas to displays as rain is forecast

Heavy rain is ready to put a dampener on Bonfire Night proceedings across West Yorkshire tonight.

People heading to-organised bonfires and firework displays can expect cold and breezy conditions as well as a band of rain travelling in from the west of England.

But it seems umbrellas and wellies are expected to be the order of the day, with rain forecast to hit the area from around 4pm right through until late in the evening.

A Met Office spokeswoman said: “It probably wont start raining properly in Yorkshire until 4pm and the worst of it is out of the way by 9pm.

“It will be cold and wet conditions under foot. It’s not as heavy by the time it gets to the east side of the UK but it’s still fairly persistent.

“I think you’ve got to prepare for a wet evening.”
