BREAKING NEWS: Man jailed for life for murdering girlfriend at their Mirfield home

Jevgeni Matjuhha, 23, denied murdering Nadija Ondzule at their home in Oddfellows Street, Mirfield, on January 20 this year.

He admitted manslaughter, but was yesterday found unanimously guilty of the 36-year-old’s murder.

Today at Leeds Crown Court, the Honourable Mr Justice David Foskett told Matjuhha that he would serve at least 19 years minus time served while awaiting trial.

He said: “If you are released after that period then you will have a life ahead of you. Nadia does not. Her son is left without his mother, her parents are left without a much-loved daughter, and her many friends without a friend who enjoyed everything in life.

“She may have had her faults, who does not? But she did not deserve to lose her life in this way. One day you will understand what you have done.”
