BREAKING NEWS: Massive changes to how YOU are represented in Westminster

MASSIVE changes to constituency boundaries could spell the end for Batley and Spen, while Mirfield and Dewsbury could be separated with two different MPs.

Under plans announced today, parts of Batley could fall under a new Leeds South West constituency, while the rest of the town could be represented by an MP in a new Mirfield ward.

Spen could cease to exist entirely, with Cleckheaton and Scholes falling within a proposed Bradford South and Cleckheaton constituency, which would also cover Birstall and Birkenshaw.

Heckmondwike could also be part of the Mirfield constituency, along with Liversedge and Gomersal and Dewsbury West.

Dewsbury East and Dewsbury South could fall under a newly created Dewsbury and Wakefield constituency.

The suggestions have been made by the Boundary Commission for England which was asked to make recommendations to government.

People can have their say on these initial proposals for 12 weeks, from now until December 5.

All feedback will be considered and revised proposals may be published towards the end of 2012 before any final recommendations are made to government by October 2013.
