BREAKING NEWS: Mother and daughter escape from Ravensthorpe house fire

A MOTHER and daughter had to escape from their home when their conservatory set on fire.

Firefighters were called out at 12.31pm today to tackle the blaze in Garden Crescent, Ravensthorpe, Dewsbury.

Watch commander Richard Carr said the fire started in the house’s conservatory and spread to the kitchen, causing damage to upstairs windows.

The mother, 39, raised the alarm and escaped unharmed with her five-year-old daughter.

Two fire engines with eight firefighters spent around two hours at the scene.

Gas and electricity board staff were called out after power supplies were damaged.

Fire investigators have yet to determine the cause of the fire, which was described as ‘severe’.
