BREAKING NEWS: Woman held at knifepoint and forced to drive to Chickenley

A MAN got into a woman’s car in a supermarket car park, threatened her with a knife and forced her to drive a mile before stealing her handbag.

The 52-year-old victim had just withdrawn cash from Sainsbury’s cash machine in Railway Street, Dewsbury, at around 8pm on Wednesday.

She got into her blue MG and a man in his 20s got into the passenger seat, threatened her and forced her to drive to Chickenley.

The man then got out of the car and ran into the Chickenley estate with the woman’s handbag.

Police are looking for a white man of medium build, around 5ft 9ins tall, with an Irish accent.

He was wearing a Khaki green, Parka-style coat with the hood up and a blue baseball cap with dirty white writing stitched on it.

Det Supt Dave West of Dewsbury CID said: “This is an extremely serious offence which has left the victim very shocked and upset and we would like to speak to anyone who has witnessed the incident or seen the offender just prior to the incident taking place.”
