Bus services may be affected after Geldards goes into receivership

West Yorkshire Combined Authority is alerting people that a number of local bus services may be affected after Geldards Coaches went into receivership.

Since receiving the news on Thursday, WYCA has been in contact with other bus operators to see if they can step in to provide Geldards’ 711 service between Bradford, Pudsey and the White Rose Centre.

Alternative operators have also been found for all five schools services that Geldards ran under contract on behalf of WYCA.

Additionally Geldards ran services to Rodillian Academy, Royds, Morley High and Woodkirk schools in Leeds on a commercial basis.

WYCA has made arrangements to maintain these services from Monday although some pupils’ journeys to school may be disrupted.

A WYCA spokesperson said: “We are working hard to ensure there will be a smooth handover of services to new operators and avoid, as far as possible, inconvenience to customers.

“However we wanted to let people know what is going on if they hear rumours about services disappearing or they experience some initial disruption.”

WYCA will update the Metro Travel Information website at www.wymetro.com and the generationM, the schools and young people’s transport website at www.generationm.co.uk as soon as the details are in place.

People can also ring MetroLine, between 7am and 10pm seven days a week, on 0113 245 7676 for information.
