Novo Coffee House, in Longcauseway, was established to fill a void in the local economy with Mediterranean and Caribbean-inspired cuisine.

Owner Neville Morris said the business, which focuses on fresh and homemade food, had got off to a solid start.

“We’ve had a fantastic response. We’re selling 120-130 cups a day,” he said.

Neville said he had looked at various locations in Kirklees and Calderdale to set up shop and it was suggested to him that Dewsbury might be just the place.

“We thought it was about time the town got something like this,” he said.

“I know people who want a little bit more and we are trying to cater for them.”

Neville hoped that his coffee shop would start a trend for Dewsbury businesses to try new things.
