A man was injured when his car rolled down an embankment today (Sunday).
The incident happened at around 1.30pm on the northbound M1 carriageway just after junction 40 at Ossett.
The man was trapped in the vehicle after it suffered a high-speed blow out and travelled 20 yards down a steep banking.
Fire crews from Ossett and Wakefield had to cut the driver from the car before he was put on a stretcher and taken back up the embankment into an awaiting ambulance.
A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said the driver was taken Pinderfields Hospital for treatment.
No other vehicles or people were involved in the accident.
One lane of the motorway was temporarily closed.
