Adam Harvey said he heard what sounded like an “earthquake” on Sunday July 20 when a car ploughed into his garden wall in The Coppice, causing damage totalling more than £8,000.

“I was in the living room at the time and heard a sound, that I could only describe as being like an earthquake,” he said. “I went out to see what had happened, and a car had crashed straight through my wall.

“Thankfully the driver was just a bit shook up – he could easily have been killed.

“I also have a young family. We were all in the house and luckily none of them were injured either.”

The car demolished his wall, knocking down trees in the garden and even caused damage to the front porch of the house.

Mr Harvey added: “We regularly have people speeding round Sunnybank Road at more than 70 miles an hour, and it has to stop.
