Cemetery access road closed after chapel damage

Kirklees Council fears the storm on Wednesday (February 12) has made the building unsafe.

St Paulinus School, in Temple Road, has been notified that the cemetery access will be closed until the chapel can be made safe and parents are asked not to try to use the area for parking.

People visiting graves at the bottom end of the cemetery are still able to gain access by using the bottom gate.

Dewsbury Cemetery Action Group formed to highlight the poor state of the Grade II listed chapels and have fought for repairs. The council has previously said it has no money for repairs,
