Pupils have joined a road safety campaign by tracking speeding drivers with police laser speed guns.
The children, from Roberttown School, zapped drivers as part of a parents’ campaign to fight traffic problems including speeding drivers, too many cars and irresponsible parking.
Parent Mark Overend, who is leading the campaign, said: “We have a petition which we plan to have Coun David Hall present to the Cabinet to try and push them to come and consult with the school and improve the safety around the school, namely Commonside and Church Road.
“Some of the issues we are encountering are illegal and irresponsible parking around school times, excess traffic volumes and excessive speed along Church Road.
“We are urging all Roberttown residents to join the campaign and protect our kids. Illegal and dangerous parking occurs each school day along with a growing volume of traffic with increasing speeds.
“The governors and many local residents feel that preventative measures should be taken prior to a child or local resident being injured or worse.”
