An MGB 1973 Roadster and 1961 Riley 1.5 were on show after being part of a classic car rally hosted by the rotary club which was a major part of the fundraising.

Orlando Gubbini, president of the Heckmondwike and District Rotary Club said: “Being president allowed me to choose where to direct the charity funds we had collected this year.

“I had learned about TACT through my friend Carol Sloan, one of its dedicated army of foster carers that do such an amazing job in transforming the lives of children in care.

“It was clear to me that TACT would benefit immensely from the money raised.”

Carol said: “It is a fantastic charity that has been so supportive to me, my three daughters and husband Pete, while we have welcomed foster children and young people into our home.”

She added that it is a very rewarding experience helping young people who have had a tough start in life and watch them grow in confidence when entering her care.;

TACT’s area manager Lisa Condor was also present at the hotel. She said the cash would help children to overcome difficult early life experiences.

The club will hold their next classic car rally at the Star, Roberttown, on September 27 from 9am. Entry is £20.
