Cleckheaton Beer and Music Festival proves a big hit

Cleckheaton Beer and Music Festival had around 750 punters supping and headbanging last weekend.

It featured eight of the district’s performers, including The Hijacked, who played on Leeds Festival’s BBC Introducing Stage last month.

Thirty beers from 16 breweries and 14 ciders were on offer at Saturday’s event, the second so far.

Organiser Paul Fisher, 46, said: “It went very well, we were suprised at the turnout.

“The music was great. It was nice to have The Hijacked fresh from Leeds Festival. The crowd were jumping up and down – they loved it.”

Profits from the day will go towards putting on the Oakwell Festival, which first rocked audiences this July.

Sets were also put in by Simon Walker, Shelbi Hoole, Bella Gaffney, The River and I, Thirty Hearts, Valours and Negative Panda.
