Cleckheaton curry lovers have a raita good contest
Seventy hungry contestants of all ages took part in the poppadom-eating challenge at the Aakash in Bradford Road, Cleckheaton on Monday, and managed to chow through 141 of the deep-fried appetisers in just one minute.
According to the manager of the restaurant, the feat could now be a world record.

Hide AdAzhar Mahmood, who also organised the challenge, said: “I was really happy with how it went – everyone had a really good laugh and we set an unofficial world record as this kind of challenge has not yet been attempted.
“It wasn’t easy though – people don’t realise how difficult it is to get through three in a minute!”
Mr Mahmood said he wanted more people to come and take on the challenge again next year.
He added: “I noticed how the kids kept challenging each other with how much they could eat – so I’ll probably try to get more schools involved next year and beat our record!”
