Cleckheaton Folk Festival returns for 28th glorious year

Sea shanties and morris dancing magic will hit Spen when a nautical-themed 28th Cleckheaton Folk Festival kicks off from July 3-5.

One of the biggest events of the town’s calendar, the three-day spectacular boasts folk legend Martin Carthy, winners of Best Folk Group at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards the Young ‘Uns, the same ceremony’s Best Duo Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker, stalwarts Artisan and plenty more.

While main acts perform at Spenborough Town Hall, the free Small Venues Project will see artists grace the town’s cafes throughout the weekend.

And the famous parade will shuffle through the town centre on Saturday, July 4.
