Company earns its stripes

Brookhouse Training, based in Balme Road, is now taking on ex-millitary personnel, and teaching them new trades to help find work in fields like plumbing and gas engineering.

To date, the company has trained 65 ex-military candidates to become qualified gas engineers since March 2011, the vast majority of which have now found employment.

Brookhouse said that many of the ex-servicemen have transferable skills that can be reapplied in civilian jobs.

Roy Parsk, work-placement manager at Brookhouse Training, said: “Our ex-military candidates have so many skills that make them more than job ready. From timekeeping to work ethics their drive and communication skills are an absolute credit to them.

“The feedback we hear from our industry partners is that they would never hesitate to take our ex-military candidates.”
