The Ossett-based scrap metals firm has pledged £260 towards the event, which will raise money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

This will be the second year running that the firm, which was set up last year on the old Eric France site, will sponsor the event, with its logo once again set to appear on the front of the Reporter Series team’s shirts.

Bradford Ambulance Service are the latest team to be confirmed in the contest, with other teams including Cleckheaton Fire Station and last year’s whipping boys Banterbury FC.

The reporters have now stepped up their training to take on their opponents.

Morley Observer and Advertiser reporter and midfield maestro David Spereall had strong words for his opponents.

He said: “I’m looking forward to starting training with the lads for the tournament in November.

“Provided I can continue my rehabilitation from a badly bruised toe, I will be getting stuck into every challenge in our games against the Bradford ambulance crew, the firemen and the rest.”

Places for teams at the November 8 event are still available – and are charged at £30 per squad, with all proceeds going towards the charity.

The event takes place at Whitcliffe Mount Sports Centre, Cleckheaton and kicks off at 1pm.
