Council delays decision on Mirfield 25

A decision on whether to allow developers to build 166 houses in Mirfield has been deferred by Kirklees Council.

Councillors at the strategic planning committee yesterday agreed to put a decision for the plans on hold while further investigation into possible night time noise was carried out.

In the original report by planning officers, it was recommended the plans were approved.

But an updated report was submitted shortly before the meeting suggesting councillors defer a decision on the application due to uncertainty over night time noise levels building work would bring.

It read: “The applicant has informed officers that the requested noise assessment will not be completed before the meeting and has asked that a decision be deferred.

“The applicant has also now proposed night time dispatches by vehicle to take place five nights per week, not just Mondays as originally stated in the application.

“As this is a significant change to the original proposal, officers need further time to consider the implications.”
