We have been asked to point out that in this week’s Batley and Birstal News we incorrectly reported that the lights switch on would take place on Saturday, November 28.

We are happy to do so and apologise for any upset or confusion this may have caused.

Dewsbury will flick the switch this Saturday November 21 at 5.40pm prompt, in the town’s Market Place.

It will be the climax of an afternoon of entertainment, with Jacqui Blay from radio station Pulse 1 fronting the proceedings, which as well as music and singers will include a funfair, fire performers, a giant snow globe and – of course Santa’s grotto.
