Birstall’s Christmas lights will be illuminated on Tuesday December 1.
We have been asked to point out that in this week’s Batley and Birstal News we incorrectly reported that the lights switch on would take place on Saturday, November 28.
We are happy to do so and apologise for any upset or confusion this may have caused.
The big Birstall event will include stalls, which will be open from mid-afternoon, including Woody’s Preserves, Jandycrafts, Pretty Little Things and the Chamber of Trade will also be having a tombola and cake stall to raise continuing funds for the Christmas lights fund.
Father Christmas himself will also be making an appearance.
The countdown is also on for Batley’s big switch-on, which will take place on Saturday November 28 with festivities taking place from 4pm-6pm.
Dewsbury will flick the switch this Saturday November 21 at 5.40pm prompt, in the town’s Market Place.
It will be the climax of an afternoon of entertainment, with Jacqui Blay from radio station Pulse 1 fronting the proceedings, which as well as music and singers will include a funfair, fire performers, a giant snow globe and – of course Santa’s grotto.
The fun starts at 4.15pm, so make sure you’re there in good time!
Mirfield’s lights switch-on will take place on Sunday November 29, as part of a Christmas festival organised by the town council and My Mirfield.
As well as the big switch-on itself, there will be a festive food and craft fair with more than 30 stalls, on-stage entertainment, a funfair and a visit from Santa.
The funfair will start at noon, the craft fair at 2pm and the lights will be switched on at 6.30pm.
