They bought one of the town’s longest running chippies from Paul and Phillip Robinson, which had been in their family for 72 years.

The brothers had taken over from their parents, Phillip and Freda Robinson, and ran the shop with their partners for more than 40 years.

But they decided in June to hang up their aprons .

Tara said: “I really like working face-to-face with customers and Julian wanted to own a fish and chip shop.

“We planned to get married in July but it has been put on hold. We have no regrets as we love working here.”

Paul said he was pleased the business would continue.

“We have a lot of fond memories in the shop,” he said.

“My dad used to get me and Phil in when we were kids to skin the potatoes.

“Years later I was made redundant and we took over the shop. It was great fun.”

Paul and Phillip thanked the customers for all their support.
