A DRUG addict has been jailed for eight-and-a-half years for robbery and the manslaughter of Gomersal pensioner Jean Myers.
Paul Glyn Halstead, 27, was sentenced this afternoon (Tuesday) for his role in two robberies on June 17 this year - the first of which led to the death of Mrs Myers, 89.
On Monday, Leeds Crown Court heard how Halstead had robbed Mrs Myers and another woman by stealing their handbags to fund his heroin habit.
After snatching Mrs Myers’ handbag, she felt to the floor and suffered serious head injuries. She died later that day at Bradford Royal Infirmary.
