A 34-year-old man has been arrested after a car and laptop were stolen from a house in Gomersal.

The burglary happened in the early hours of Thursday morning at an address on Shirley Avenue.

The suspect got into the property after removing the handle plate on the door and snapping the Europrofile locking barrel. He then made his way through the property, taking a laptop, wallet, handbag and car keys for a Kia Cee’d, which he drove off in. The man police arrested, who as been linked to two similar offences in West Yorkshire, has been bailed until September 2 pending further enquiries.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Europrofile burglaries can be avoided by fitting ‘snap-safe’ locking barrels. For further information, please contact your local NPT or crime reduction officer on ‘101’.”
