ROBBERS escaped with a large container of cigarettes after ram-raiding a Mirfield supermarket yesterday.

The raid on the Co-op in Old Bank Road began at around 12.50am when a dark coloured Mercedes saloon car reversed into the shop’s window.

Three men wearing balaclava went in through the broken window, took the cigarettes and returned to the car.

The car, driven by a fourth man, sped off along Sunny Bank Avenue.

The raiders wore light grey or white tops, one of which had a stripe down one arm. The driver wore a dark coloured top.
