Crossbow Cannibal to spend rest of life in prison

Stephen Griffiths, who calls himself the Crossbow Cannibal, pleaded guilty at Leeds Crown Court this morning (Tuesday) to the murders of Suzanne Blamires, Shelley Armitage and Susan Rushworth.

Ms Blamires, 36, Ms Armitage, 31, and 43-year-old Ms Rushworth all worked as prostitutes in the city.

Sentencing Griffiths, 40, Mr Justice Openshaw said the crimes were “wicked and monstrous, and the defendant should be kept in prison for the rest of his life.”

Griffiths, who was dressed in a grey sweat shirt and jogging bottoms, showed no emotion as he was led away to begin his whole life tariff.
