Dewsbury hospice hopes for Care Week impact

The Rosewood Centre, which is based in the grounds of Dewsbury and District Hospital, offers a range of services to help patients and carers cope with the challenges of life-limiting conditions and aims to enhance the quality of life of those struggling with the physical and mental impact of their illness.

The welcoming service, which was set up in 2000, is approaching its busiest time of the year. Its annual service to remember former patients will take place in November, before the Christmas period

Julie Pagan, senior sister at the Rosewood Centre, said: “People are continually amazed by the happy and uplifting atmosphere created in the Rosewood Centre. Staff and volunteers go above and beyond the call of duty for patients and their carers and nothing is too much trouble.

“Our ability to enhance the lives of people with life-limiting conditions is regularly rewarded with charitable donations which help us enhance the service for people who most need us. We’re hoping Hospice Care Week will once again give us much needed publicity and provide a way to change perceptions about Palliative Care.”

Hospice Care Week runs from October 6 - 12 and aims to help raise the profile of hospice care in the UK.
