Dewsbury Rams bar manager loses cancer battle

A ‘loyal servant’ of Dewsbury Rams has died after losing his battle with cancer.

Eugene Crotty, 60, was the bar manager at the stadium for eight years and was well known by fans and staff at the club.

He was also a devoted supporter of the Rams.

He passed away on Friday morning.

Club chairman Mark Sawyer said: “He was a very loyal servant of Dewsbury Rams.

“It’s testament to what a brave fella he was that he working to the last day he was capable of working.”

Mr Crotty retired from the club at the end of last year, but carried on watching matches.

“He came to matches until he was literally incapable of walking,” added Mr Sawyer.
