THE funeral of Dewsbury soldier Corporal Jake Hartley will be held next week.
Friends and family will gather on Monday to pay their respects to the 20-year-old who was killed in Afghanistan last month.
Cpl Hartley, of the 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment, was one of six soldiers killed on Tuesday March 6 when their Warrior Armoured Fighting Vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device.
A service will be held at Christ Church in New Mill, near Holmfirth, at 1.30pm, followed by a private burial.
Hundreds of people are expected to turn out to honour the soldier who was described by colleagues as a ‘star of the future’.
It is expected that speakers will be set up in the churchyard to allow those outside to listen to the service.
