LIVERSEDGE is looking slimmer after one of its residents lost an impressive seven stone in the space of 18 months.
Donna Bould, from Union Road, began visiting a slimming group in Cleckheaton last May and has recently won the group’s Miss Slinky title after her big weight loss.
She said: “I decided to do it just over a year ago.
“I had been on holiday to Florida with my in-laws, and they asked me back for this year.
“I hid away from the water parks and rides and missed out on so much with the kids, I was determined that this time I was going to be able to feel confident enough to do all those things.
“I wanted to go to the water parks so I decided straight away to join a slimming world group and I’m glad I did!
“We went back this August, and I went to all the water parks!
“It was hard to start with, but as time went on, it became much easier to stick to the plan. When you are in a group, it is much easier to go through with it when you have people in the group to support each other. My friends and family are very supportive of my weight loss and losing the weight I have so far has helped me gain more confidence and I have even started to exercise and have so much more energy to do things with the kids.”
Sarah Marshall, who runs the Cleckheaton Slimming World group which Donna attends, was delighted to be able to present Donna with the title after all the hard work and effort she has put in, not only in her diet but also in getting into a healthy lifestyle.
She said: “What makes this even better for me is knowing that Donna has really changed in herself, she is so much more confident and outgoing”.
“When she joined last year, she was so quiet and shy and always kept herself to herself, she is now a big part of the group offering help and support to the other members, she has literally changed in front of our eyes.”
And Donna is not finished there, as the 34-year-old care worker plans to keep visiting the slimming world group and help others who are in the position that she was in.
She added: “I would like to lose one more stone, but after losing seven, I’m confident I’ll be able to do it!”
