Drawing the crowds

Art lovers flocked to Batley last weekend for the official opening of Dewsbury Arts Group’s spring exhibition.
The exhibition at Batley Art Gallery features 80 works by local artists.More than 100 people enjoyed a first look at the pieces on display during a special preview event last Friday night, which was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Kirklees, Coun Martyn Bolt, and the Deputy Mayoress, Liz Bolt. 
The turnout for the preview was one of the biggest ever for the group, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
 The exhibition is at the gallery in Batley Library until April 13. Turn to listings on pages 36 and 37 for opening times.
