Richard Senior, who lives in Dewsbury, appeared on the hit ITV show on Saturday but failed to get a date.

The 40-year-old is best known by locals for wearing his Saturday Night Fever-style outfit in the Frontier.

But his eccentric dress sense and signature dance moves failed to convince 30 single girls he should take them to the Isle of Fernandos.

Richard said: “It was a fabulous and unique experience to be a part of, regardless of what happened.

In series eight there are 32 guys and to be picked from the hundreds that applied was brilliant.

“Paddy is a real character and he knows Batley from performing his stand-up here so it was great to have a chat about that.”

Richard’s video package saw him walk along Batley’s golden mile and showcase his signature dance moves including “mowing the hedge”.

He made it to the final round, with three interested girls still with their lights on.

But Richard’s Austin Powers-themed dance routine was cut short when the remaining girls decided he was not the man for them. He said: “There is no shame in it. It is an entertainment show and you never know what might happen.

“The reaction has been great and I was stopped in Asda the other day for a picture.”

Richard will be the special guest at Deco nightclub in Bradford Road tonight.

The club is hosting a special Take Me Out ‘Batley Style’, with local revellers trying to bag themselves a date.
