A man had to be cut from his car last night after a crash with a heavy goods vehicle.

The fire brigade said the crash happened just before 8pm, at junction 26 of the eastbound M62 near Chain Bar.

Crews from Odsal, Bradford and Cleckheaton fire stations helped to rescue the trapped man from the wreckage of his Ford Fiesta.

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue spokesperson said it’s thought the HGV had crashed into the back of the vehicle.

The man was taken to Leeds General Infirmary.

Highways England said there were significant delays while the road was closed to allow emergency services to work at the scene.
