The crash happened around 4pm on Saturday when a blue Ford Fiesta was in collision with a supermarket delivery lorry, on the slip road to the A646.

The car driver was taken to Dewsbury and District Hospital –and later discharged – with minor injuries and the HGV driver was unharmed.

The accident caused delays for around an hour.

Witness Garren Drake, from Moorbottom in Cleckheaton, was out walking nearby when emergency crews turned up.

"I was near Whitcliffe Mount School over the bridge when I saw the car facing the wrong way," he said.

"I saw them taking the driver into the ambulance on a stretcher and it was chaos. The traffic was moving very slowly and there were tailbacks, but the main thing is that the girl was okay."
