So, Howard Cook claims he would have be forced to close down the Ponderosa if he failed to acquire planning go ahead to build on the green belt land.

This begs the question – how and why would Mr Cook’s personal finances (relating to a business that has been running successfully for 15-20 years) hold any sway on the decision as to whether he can build or not?

Surely Kirklees Council isn’t going to allow a metaphorical gun to its head?

Mr Cook’s financial status, good or otherwise, surely should have had no bearing whatsoever on the final decision to build on green belt land.
