An actress from Liversedge is busy wowing audiences in the West End as she is playing the lead role in a hit musical.
Emma Crossley, 28, who grew up in Chiltern Way, is playing lead role Sophie Sheridan in Abba musical Mamma Mia at the Novella theatre in London.
“I only learned I had got the role about a month and a half ago,” she said. “But I was over the moon when the producers called to say I’d got the part.
“I suppose I am lucky that they are Abba songs, because they are songs you grow up with, and you know most of them by heart anyway!”
Emma landed her first big West End role last year playing the same part when the show was at the Prince of Wales Theatre, after getting the call up from being the understudy.
The musical will run until 10 June 2014, and the formerHeckmondwike Stuart Stage School pupil hopes to land many more plum roles in the future.
“I love acting on the stage,” she said. “It is something I have always enjoyed, and I would like to stay in it for as long as possible.”
