Women footballers received a pleasant surprise when England international Jill Scott paid a visit to Dewsbury recently.
The Manchester City ace was a guest at Kick Off Dewsbury on Mill St East.
She was invited by Sporting Champions and West Yorkshire Sport to run an inspirational coaching session for budding female footballers.
The intense coaching session was followed by a sort talk and question and answer session about Jill’s career and her rise to the top.
Since leaving hometown club Sunderland for Everton in 2006, she contributed to the Blues’ FA Women’s Premier League Cup win in 2008 and FA Women’s Cup victory in 2010.
On an individual level Scott was voted 2008 FA Players’ Player of the Year and 2011 FA International Player of the Year.
Jamil Baig, Director of Kick off, said: “It was fantastic having Jill here on Sunday.
“The girls really benefitted from her coaching session and were truly inspired by her story.
“We hope we can be the means for the next Jill Scott to come out of Dewsbury.”
Mel Berry, of West Yorkshire Sport who facilitated the visit, said: “It was a fantastic visit and it was a pleasure seeing young girls from the local community getting inspired by a positive female role model.
“We want to thank Kick off for hosting the visit.”
