Facebook lands man in court

A FACEBOOK status update led police to a man wanted for assault, criminal damage and breaching a restraining order.

Damien Braime, of Fieldhead Gardens, Shaw Cross, was wanted by police after approaching his ex-partner at her Thornhill Lees home. Officers struggled to find the 22-year-old, but he was arrested at Batley Library after he posted a message on the networking site to say he had just arrived there. On Tuesday, Dewsbury magistrates heard Braime broke a window at his ex-partner’s home, despite a restraining order.

Roger Clapham, mitigating, said Braime claimed he had been invited there by his former partner.

Braime admitted criminal damage and breaching a restraining order. He was remanded in custody until he is sentenced on November 2. An assault charge was withdrawn.
