Final preparations for Roberttown Christmas Lights switch-on

Robbertown is making its final preparations for this year’s round of Christmas lights switch-ons and events.

The switch-on and Christmas fair, which will be hosted by the village’s shops and Roberttown Residents and Church Committee, will take place on Friday, November 28.

It will kick off at 5.45pm at the Jubilee Garden in Church Road.

Huddersfield’s town crier will take the switch-on honour.

Santa will make an appearance with his helpers to give out sweet and mince pies.

The town crier will then walk everyone into town to continue the festivities.

The fair’s organisers said that visitors will be spoilt for choice with several varieties of seasonal food and drink available.

Buckles butchers will provide hot pork and crackling sandwiches and Food for Thought Cafe will offer hot pie and peas, jacket potatoes and mulled wine.

JB’s soup and rolls will bring hot soup and hot dogs, and there will be a range of homemade cakes and buns.

Huddersfield Youth Band will be there to get visitors into the spirit of Christmas with festive music from 6pm-6.45pm, outside Buckles, followed by carol singing around the Christmas tree in the Jubilee Garden from 6.45pm-7.15pm.

Homesmart Sales and Lettings will provide mulled wine and mince pies as well as goody bags.

Roberttown Card and Gifts will be open for a spot of shopping.

The New Inn will have a children’s ride for the little ones. And Santa will be in his grotto at the Faith, Hope and Charity shop.
