Fire crews tackle Birstall flat fire

Fire crews tackled a fire which broke out in the living room of flat in the early hours of this morning.

Crews from Cleckheaton and Dewsbury were called to Raikes Lane, Birstall, at 12.20am.

A woman in the flat managed to get out of the flat before crews arrived, but was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary suffering from smoke inhalation.

Crews used one hose reel and two breathing apparatu to extinguish the fire and were at the scene for around one hour.
