Firefighters attend suspected electrical fire

Firefighters attended a suspected electrical fire last night (Monday).

Crews from Batley were called to Cambridge Road at 7.30pm last night to reports of an underground fire.

A West Yorkshire Fire Service spokesperson said that a grass verge at the scene was smoking and residents had reported power cuts and said they had heard crackling sounds.

Firefighters taped the area off until the Yorkshire Electricity Board arrived.

Police were also in attendance.

Fire crews left the scene at around 8.30pm.
