Five Jailed over Cleckheaton drugs bust
FIVE men have been jailed for a total of 43 years for their part in one of Kirklees' biggest ever drug busts.
Martin Joliff, 47, of Carr Street, in Cleckheaton and Harold Rawson, 62, of Rawson Street, in Wyke were both jailed for 11 years for their part in the conspiracy to supply cannabis. Andrew Purcell, 29, of Muirfeild Drive, in Wakefield, was given a 4 year sentence.
Paul Michael Rowntree, 30, of Wakefield, was jailed for 7 years. 36-year-old Damion Kai Lister, who now lives in Algerciras, in Spain, was given a 10 year sentence. Both men had already pleaded guilty to conspiring to supply the Class-B drug during their trial.
William Leslie Thompson, 49, of County Durham - will be sentenced on Monday at Leeds Crown Court.
48-year-old Lee Scarse, also of Algerciras, in Spain, will be sentenced after Easter.
The men were jailed following an extensive investigation by West Yorkshire Police.
After the hearing, Det Insp Warren Stevenson said: "The sentences given today reflect the serious nature of the charges faced by these men and also the hierarchy inside the gang."
