Flammable liquid thrown over man in Batley Carr robbery

A MAN was taken to hospital after a flammable liquid was thrown on him during a robbery.

The 21-year-old parked his car in Upper Road, Batley Carr, and got out with his girlfriend on Sunday night. They were approached by two men who threw a liquid over the man, which police believe was an accelerant, and threatened him, demanding property.

The victim and his girlfriend ran from the car – a blue Citroen Saxo – and returned a short time later to find cash and a mobile phone had been stolen.

The incident happened at around 8pm.
