SPEN Valley Flower Club showcased one of its more striking designs at a prestigious show.
The club was asked to exhibit a design at the Harrogate Flower Show and was given a theme of Famous Women to work with. Club members got together and created an effigy of suffragette heroine Emmeline Parkhurst from willow and laurel leaves.
So impressed were the show’s organisers, that they wrote to the flower club to praise the ‘lovely display’.
Club secretary Barbara Stone said: “It is always a compliment because there are only a few display spaces.
“There are a lot of flower clubs in the North East, but only four were asked to get involved this time for the display.”
