Leeds United will be hoping to improve on Tuesday’s drab 1-1 draw with Charlton, as former Huddersfield manager Lee Clark brings his young Birmingham City side to town.

Leeds had an evening to forget the last time the blues visited Elland Road, when giant Serb Nikola Zigic was the Brummies’ hero, scoring four in a 6-1 rout.

A win could put Leeds back among the play-off pack, but Tuesday’s goalscorer David Norris believes the Whites must up their game for this weekend.

He said: “It was a disappointing night (on Tuesday) but we have another home game on Saturday against Birmingham. They are a good team but with two home games in a row then you have to get at least four points.

“If we do win then the Charlton result can maybe be looked at as a good point. But, first, we have to win.”

Huddersfield Town will be hoping to erase all memory of Tuesday’s shock 3-1 defeat at bottom-placed Peterborough, as they travel to the New Den to take on Milwall.

The Terriers were undone by two fine first-half George Boyd strikes on Tuesday night, and will be wanting to get their back-to-back promotion-bid a kickstart against Kenny Jackett’s Londoners.

Terriers captain Peter Clarke admitted Tuesday’s defeat was a case of “after the Lord Mayor’s show”, following their impressive win against Wolves at the weekend, and hopes for an improvement.

Clarke said: “Tuesday was very disappointing, especially after the way we played against Wolves last Saturday.

“It was a little bit after the Lord Mayor’s show, we never got our normal type of game going and we were off it all over the pitch.

Bradford City could climb as high as third with a win at fellow promotion-chasers Burton Albion on Saturday. Influential midfielder Gary Jones is expected to return to the matchday squad, but top-scorer Nahki Wells has a one-match suspension after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Northampton on Tuesday, leaving the door open for Alan Connell to start alongside James Hanson. Wing-wizard Kyel Reid is expected to be out until Christmas with his groin injury

Boss Phil Parkinson will be hoping his team can make it three wins in a week at the Pirelli Stadium, after impressive triumphs over Northampton and Cheltenham.

Elsewhere, Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has apologised for his side’s performance in last night’s 3-1 defeat to Ajax, which all but eliminates his side from the Champions League.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the defeat, Mancini blamed himself for the defeat, claiming that he had not prepared his team properly for the match.

He said: “It was probably my fault because I prepared badly for this game, I didn’t prepare the players and I’m at fault for the defeat.

“When you prepare for a game sometimes it is a different to what you expect.”
