LEEDS United welcome Championship newbies Charlton Athletic to Elland Road this evening, as they hope to end a woeful run of midweek form. The whites have won only three of their previous 22 midweek matches, and boss Neil Warnock hopes to banish Leeds’s Tuesday blues.

He said: “Midweek has not been great at Elland Road, but I don’t see why the lads can’t lift themselves. We have got to revel in playing at home under floodlights.

Captain Lee Peltier and midfield lynchpin Rudy Austin head a list of injury doubts, possibly paving the way for Adam Drury and David Norris to make rare starts.

Huddersfield Town travel to lowly Peterborough this evening, and will be hoping to cement their promotion push, which has seen them rise to third in the Championship, but despite having no fresh injury worries, manager Simon Grayson is taking nothing for granted ahead of tonight’s clash.

He said: “We have to prepare physically and mentally for probably the biggest game of the season at Peterborough.

“They will look where we are and at what we have done against Wolverhampton and it will be a far more difficult game for us than Saturday because the mental side of football plays a big part.

After Saturday’s impressive victory over Wolves, Town could see themselves go top of the league this evening, providing other results go their way.

Bradford City manager Phil Parkinson is wary of a backlash from a smarting Northampton Town side this evening, after the Cobblers were smashed 4-0 last week by an Edgar Davids-inspired Barnet.

He said: “Northampton are still dangerous opponents who will be there or thereabouts in terms of the play-off places.

“They are a team who finish their chances and have two big men up front who we will have to handle.”

Parky has a couple of injury doubts in defensive pair Andrew Davies and Luke Oliver, but Gary Jones is set to be back in contention for the clash, as the Bantams will be hoping for a repeat of last season’s trip to Sixfields when a memorable Nahki Wells hat-trick helped City to a 3-1 win. Top scorer Ade Akinfenwa is expected to start for Northampton.
