A teenager from Cleckheaton has reached the regional finals of Britain’s biggest teen beauty contest.
Xavia Timothy, 16, from Hightown, is through to the northeast final of iss Teen Great Britain, and is hoping to go through to the national final to have a chance of becoming Britain’s top teen.
Xavia, who was also named prom-queen at Whitcliffe Mount School, said: “Of course, I am very excited – it’s my first one, so I am a little bit nervous!
“I don’t know if I will come in the top places, but I am just hoping to get a good spot – although I would love to go through to the final.”
As well as being an aspiring beauty queen, Xavia is also planning for her future career.
“I’m currently studying at college,” she said, “I’m doing health and social care – I’m wanting to work with children.”
In taking part in the contest, Xavia is also raising money for the Joshua Foundation – a charity for children with terminal illness – and hopes to get around £250 worth of donations.
She said: “I’m taking part in the pageant for The Joshua Foundation because I love what they do for children.”
The northeast final for Miss Teen Great Britain takes place at the Scarborough Spa on Saturday February 23. Should she win the national final, she would win a trip to Chicago to take place in Miss Teen International. For more information, visit www.missgbinternational.com.
